Programming web applications with Java Servlet and JSP

The training covers two basic components of Java EE standard, used to create web applications: JavaServlet and JavaServer Pages (JSP).

The training is supplemented with a theoretical knowledge related to creating of web applications.

The training is for:

  • web application programmers

Prerequisites:

  • knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming,
  • prior participation in the training "Introduction to Java 5.0" is recommended,
  • knowledge of HTML.

By the end of the training participants will have learned:

  • how to create web applications with JavaServlet and JavaServer Pages technologies,
  • how to create web-based user interface,
  • typical problems that occur during creation of web applications, as well as their standard solutions.

Training duration: 2 days.

Methodology: lectures and exercises. A lot of practical examples are presented, discussed, tested and extended by the trainees. Trainees actively participate in the training.

Training outline:

Day 1.

  1. Introduction to architecture of web applications.
  2. Java Servlets, session, multithread environment.
  3. JavaServer Pages (JSP), using JavaBeans.

Day 2.

  1. Observer pattern, listeners and filters.
  2. Security of web applications.
  3. JSP Expression Language (JSP EL).
  4. The most important tag libraries.
