Modeling in Enterprise Architect

Enterprise Architectis one of the most popular and frequently used tools for modeling in UML and other graphical notations. However, efficient usage of this tool, especially in a team, requires - besides basic knowledge of the tool - also good organization of work and proper configuration of environment. Participants of the course learn basic work techniques with Enterprise Architect, learn how to organize and maintain model structure and how to generate project documentation. They also learn techniques of teamwork in various configurations of EA environment.

The training is for:

  • people using or planning to use Enterprise Architect for modelling,
  • IT architects, analysts and designers,
  • people who manage Enterprise Architect modeling environment in IT projects.

Prerequisites:

  • basic knowledge of UML notation,
  • prior participation in the training "Modeling in UML" is recommended.

Training duration

2 days

Methodology

Lectures, exercises with computers. Most of the time is spent on doing exercises and their discussion. Trainees actively participate in the training.

By the end of the training participants will have learned:

  • how to effectively use Enterprise Architect in a routine job,
  • techniques of teamwork in Enterprise Architect in various environment configurations.

Training outline:

Day 1.

  1. Working in Enterprise Architect - basic techniques.
  2. Model management.
  3. Creating and working with different types of diagrams.

Day 2.

  1. Generating documentation.
  2. Teamwork basics.
  3. Teamwork in a centralized environment based on a database.
  4. Versioning and teamwork in a distributed environment based on SVN.
